Books: Girl Online by Zoe Sugg

We all know who Zoe Sugg aka Zoella is. I mean who doesn't the huge internet sensation she is! Being as popular as she is, is guaranteed to come with some baggage. Never do you hear of a celebrity who never gets hate, who does not have enemies and most importantly does not have people making up lies or in some cases expanding the truth to be more than its worth. In the case of 'the first novel by Zoella' Zoe got a lot of hate about using a ghost-writer which basically means that she got substantial help while writing the book. I have to say I expected her to get help. Don't get me wrong - Zoe is an amazing writer but people must realize she is not an author but a youtuber and blogger. For people to assume that she would write is all by herself would be wrong.

Nevertheless, against all odds Zoe Sugg managed to release a book. To be honest, I was quite surprised that she opted for a Fictional book rather than the angle all the other youtubers are going for and having books related to their channels. I was pleasantly surprised and looking forward to reading it as a result. To give you a quick plot overview....

The book is about a girl named Penny who I have to say in some ways relates to Zoe in many ways - for example Penny suffers with anxiety and also blogs about friendship, boys and her crazy family. In many ways the book is cliche and cringe-worthy however in a weird way that fits with the book and works out very well as the book progresses. As a series of events take place, Penny and her family are whisked of to New York which is a complicated process due to her anxiety. In New York she meet Noah. Yes, you see where I am going with this. Penny believes she is falling in love - of course. But secrets are kept and in the end you find out there is a lot more to this relationship than we first think. You really have to consider whether you would like to read the book at this point of the review - Do I get it just because I am a Zoe fan? or Do I leave this book as an opportunity that I won't yet take?

To round up this review as time is ticking and dreams are calling me into a peaceful slumber I think this book is worth it. Take a chance and read it. You will not be disappointed!
