Thoughts: GCSE Options???

So it's around this time of the year that schools in the UK start thinking about options! This is usually in Year 9 that they start asking students about their options and I just thought I would share my views on what I am doing and how this will affect you! Although you have probably already been told this I thought I would give you a less professional opinion on the option situation!
In case you were wondering it's Alice telling you about all this yadah but I'm sure Amie and Beth will offer their advice if you want it!
The options I have picked are:
Triple Science - Basically I will do 9 Science Exams instead of two and this is not core I have chosen to do it so don't get your knickers in a twist.
French GCSE- J'aime le francais so this is a good option for me!
GCSE Drama - I chose GCSE Drama purely because I like writing and acting so this a good combination but my school also offers BTEC Drama which may be something (if your school offers it) to look into because it involves less writing but is essentially the same course.
Geography - I would have preferred to do History but I want a Humanities so I thought I would do this as my options block up History.
Our school also has given us a chance to discus our options with a teacher so that we know we are making the right choice this is good because GCSE's are quite important and will kind of decide your future! You don't have to be thinking for example I want to be a Vet so I have to do Triple Science you just need to be picking subjects you enjoy. When it comes to A-Level maybe start thinking in that way. You will also need to know that you will be able to get at least a C in that subject so for me it would be stupid if I picked Design Technology because I can't sow! So although teachers may be saying that a language will help you work abroad ( I am just giving that as an example) if right now you don't want to do a language; you don't have to as long as you do it at A-Level! Just make choices on what you are enjoying.
My final word of advice is don't pick what your friend is picking. A sentence you will have heard a trillion times before but it is so true because if my friend lets say Sally was picking Music and I hated that subject but wanted to be with Sally then I may not do as well in Music then I would have done if I'd have picked Drama.
This has all been rather serious hasn't it! Don't worry you'll get the usual chitter chatter from me next post!

Alice xxx
