If I Stay, like most films is a book. Originally it was a book and now it has been adapted into a movie. I say now but I actually mean August 22 which is a weird coincidence since I just wrote the post on Storm Flower Cheryl's Perfume which came out on the same day. Not that that has anything to do with this film or is relevant to this post at all. Nevertheless just putting that out there. After that small tangent I go back to what this post is actually about....
To be honest I have not read the book, otherwise this would be a book review as I am a stong believer that books are better than films and should always be read first and then watched. Alice however has read the book and she has said she is not a big fan and I can understand how the concept would be difficult to describe in words whereas easier to show in a film. In that aspect I totally understand how much better the film makers did. That is no disrespect for the other as the idea is an amazing one.
Basically, romance plays a key feature in the book, as Adam seems an unlikley match for the protagonist but maybe thats how its mean't to be in life. The unexpected does seem to work well. However a accident occurs which is quite heart-wrenching to be honest and me as well as the other two were left welling up - close to tears. But that is not exactly new to me because if you didn't know I am a wuss and cry at everything. The accident is terrible and the main character has an out of body experience while in a coma. Therefore the story goes on to explain all she has to live for or alternatively the things she has lost. It is very sad to watch.
When I watched this film, I watched it alongside Alice and Beth as it was Beth's Birthday recently so we had a sleepover. It was very emotional and I really enjoyed it. Although sad I thin kyou should definely give it a watch. One thing we did discuss and disagree on is... The top picture on this post I think Chloe Grace Moretz looks like Kristen Stewart. But only on that top picture not in real life or any other instances. What do you think? Beth and Alice disagree but I can see it. Can you?
