Follow Amie: Stratford-upon-Avon - Day 1

If you did not know, over the last few days I have been in Stratford-upon-Avon. It is a city in England, United Kingdom a few hours by train from where we live. I have relatives who live not far from Stratford so me and my sister went to visit them for a while because we do not see them often.

If you have never been to Stratford then it is the Shakespeare county, this is where Shakespeare was actually born. Anyway so me and my sister got the Train to Leamington Spa train station, where my relatives picked us up and took us to their house. The train journey was pretty uneventful as I just read my book: And the Mountains Echoed. However someone was sat in my seat (we had reserved tickets in advance) which was a bit off-putting and we did not ask them to move so basically I just sat in another seat. Yep..... thats about it. We actually had the same problem on the way home - we were supposed to be sat in two seats in the 50's and ended up in the 60's but whos keeping track, ey? The reason I told you that now and not a Day 3 post is nothing happened that day at all other than us going home.

So when we arrived we decided to go in the paddock nearby their house and play rounders. This may be tmi but I swear I have never sweated so much in my life. My cousin is so good at rounders, he hit the ball miles away and guess who had to run after them. Me! It was roasting hot as well so please don't think I never do exercise because although I may not be the most active person I still do some. It was on the warmest days so far this Year I think, even if the Met Office do not agree. We also wet their trampoline and were messing about and slipping all over the place which should a bit immature but you know - we had fun so what the heck!

Before we actually arrived they would not tell us what we would be doing until we got there so it was a nice suprise of them to take us to the Royal Shakespeare Theater to watch a production of Death a Salesman. When they first told me I imagined salesman to be 'sailor' as they said it to us rather than wrote it down obviously. The acting was astounding, such a range of talents. Although the themes of the play are very dark I enjoyed it a lot. You can see from the pictures of the theater that we were up in the gods. We were actually in the highest seats possible, which was pretty cool but I'm glad I'm not scared of heights as that would be a bit of a predicament.

Basically the play is about a man whos work is not going too well at the minute and although it never explicitly says in the script has some kind of dimensia, therefore the play continues with him having memories and seeing past relatives that have perhaps past away. That is all I am going to say because if you are over the age of 15+ the  you should give it a read. It is a classic written by Arthur Miller who was born in 1915 so he was born 100 years ago, which is why a lot of his plays are being produced this year.

So thats day one. Day 2 is coming soon!
