Movie/TV: The Spectacular Now

I am a big divergent fan, consequently I recently went to watch Insurgent although not with Beth and Alice who went later to watch it together. I have to say Divergent is probably my second favorite film series after Harry Potter but before the Hunger Games, however this is not a review on Insurgent or Divergent but if you would like one then please comment and I will do that! Instead this is a review on the film The Spectacular Now. As you can probably tell it has two of the divergent stars in: Miles Teller and Shailene Woodley, which is one of the reasons I watched it in the first place because at the minute I have been really loving Shailene and she is now one of my favourite actresses.

Basically Sutter Keely (Miles Teller) is obsessed with living in the now, so to speak. He is your typical high school senior - popular, charming and the life of the party. However in the real world, it is time for him to grow up and graduation is coming up so he must start acting like an adult. To him though, his life is perfect, the perfect job, the perfect girlfriend, the perfect world. One of the biggest problems he has is that he is a growing alcoholic (as shown in the picture above), and is always found drinking whether it is disguised as a thirst-master cup or in a small hip flask. Therefore when he finds himself dumped by girlfriend Cassidy, a series of events leave him drunk and layed on the lawn of Aimee Finecky's house (played by Shailene Woodley) . Aimee is the nice girl, the complete opposite of Sutter as she devotes herself to her family, school and her love for science fiction. While Aimee has big plans and dreams for her future Sutter is stuck in the delusion of his Spectacular Now.

As the film progresses you see how, although complete opposites, they are drawn to each other. I think in a weird sense they are good for each other, teaching each other a lot along the way. The film and the actors in it have been nominated and won many awards, these include being nominated for the MTV Movie Awards - Breakthrough Performance = Miles Teller, Best Kiss  and Shailene Woodley also won Best Supporting Actress at the San Diego Film Critics Society Awards.
Although it is not my favourite film, it is pretty decent. What do you think? Any more film recommendations?
