So I know I keep posting quite deeply as of recently but I was inspired recently to write a post about self confidence and the way media portrays people. A lot of Youtubers have been making videos for the Dove Campaign. However I was inspired by my guide leader to write this post and with it being quite relevant in todays society I thought I would!
First I want to talk about YOU and how you are an amazing individual that can shape the world and you should not be judged on your image but by your character and your individual unique personality that makes you, you. Often girls (and boys) are lead to believe that what they see in the media is the perfect way to look, act, talk and often that is very wrong. The media is one of the main reasons many people lack self confidence today, they only show photos of incredible women that make us want to be them. And don't even try to deny it we have all wanted to be a celebrity at one point. We shouldn't be influenced by what the media show us instead we should learn to love ourselves and value who we truly are.
Unfortunately many people feel like they aren't good enough that because they don't look like the girl on the cover of Vogue they aren't normal and as we are all aware of this can lead to sad consequences such as self harming and depression. Consequences that can be made better, because as a society we can work together to get rid of the media's 'perfect image' and decrease the amount of people affected by the media.
So all in all I think that what I was trying to say is that YOU are wonderful, special and unique and you should embrace that and walk around with your head held high because you can do anything when you really try!
